Guan Huaibin

Guan Huaibin graduated from Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in 1989 (now China Academy of Fine Arts) and from Tokyo University of Art in 2004 (doctoral degree). Currently living in Hangzhou, China, Guan Huaibin is the Professor/Doctoral Supervisor/Dean of the School of Trans-media Art, China Academy of Fine Arts. Among Chinese contemporary installation artists, Guan Huaibin is good at deconstructing and integrating traditional cultural elements and perception modes into his own language system and work structure. By integrating the aesthetics of Chinese classical gardening into its space installation form, his works are always filled with the unique temperament of Chinese contemporary art, from which we can feel his strong humanism and artistic conception of space construction, so that the traditional cultural elements in the context of contemporary art obtain wider scope and extension. He has participated in many important international exhibitions such as Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial, La Biennale di Venezia and Shanghai Biennale.
