"The Great World" established in 1917 used to be the most attractive entertainment venue of Shanghai during the period of Republic of China. Now that it is reopened, old shows come back with modern technologies and materials.

"View Combination" is created by Yuan Song with the materials which symbolize its history. The work creates a stressful oneness by comparing freshness and oldness, flexibly-rotated machinery and stimulating visual illusion. The seemingly absurd material combination reflects the artist's vision about how ordinary people live in this age of consumerism - reality and fantasy, contradiction and coexistence. It is a work of vitality and force.
